Matt Perisho entered coaching in 2011 upon his retirement from professional baseball. He experienced great success in 10 seasons at the high school level before moving to the collegiate level. As a head high school coach he led his teams to regional championships and playoff appearances every year, and a .772 winning percentage. He was a member of the 2013 coaching staff for the Arizona State Champion and #2 nationally ranked Desert Mountain Wolves. Matt has also coached competitive club baseball since 2011, including his own club organization in the ultra-competitive Phoenix-area market. He has experience getting athletes to their next desired level, including time spent as an Associate Scout for a Major League organization.
Matt also has professional coaching experience, first starting as a Player-Coach for the Chico Outlaws of the Golden League in 2010 and later as the Interim Pitching Coach in 2013 for the Montezuma Federals of the Freedom League.
After signing with The University of Miami as a LHP and OF, Matt was selected in the third round of the 1993 MLB Draft by the California Angels. His professional playing experience spans over 18 years and includes parts of eight seasons at the major league level and totals 13 years in a Major League organization. Perisho also has international playing experience, including multiple seasons of Winter Ball in the Dominican Republic and Venezuela, and time in the Mexican League and Chinese Professional Baseball League in Taiwan.
GREG MUCERINO
Assistant Coach
Gregg Mucerino was appointed the next Athletics Director for Dallas Christian College in the spring of 2020. He oversees the Crusaders Athletics Department, which sponsors men’s and women’s basketball, baseball, volleyball, men’s soccer, and men’s and women’s cross country, and looks to have women’s soccer in 2021.
Mucerino was the 2018 NCCAA Regional Coach of the Year, had the most wins in program history, led team mission trips in conjunction with Operation Blessing, was a strong sports fundraiser, and was the 2019 NCAA Regional Site Director for Division II playoffs.
He has been the head baseball coach at Colorado Christian University for five years, where he was responsible for player recruitment and program development, fundraising, and initiating a spiritual growth and development program for players and staff.
Prior to that he was the Associate Athletic Director at Calvary Christian Academy in Florida, head baseball coach at Loyola University in Louisiana, assistant coach at College of Charleston in South Carolina, and assistant coach at The Citadel in South Carolina.
Mucerino graduated from the University of Miami with a degree in marketing.
He received high praise from his former Athletic Director, former Assistant Athletic Director, the Faculty Representative of CCU, and a father whose son was recruited and played for him. Among many other statements made about Gregg, these people shared about his strong personal faith in Christ, his recruitment of excellent student athletes, his hard work ethic, his leadership ability in coaching and with staff, and his deep love for his family.
His former Athletic Director highlighted how he had turned around a baseball program at CCU within a year.
